lovely!

this is a great way of working on char ideas and develpoment... love the mix of ideas here... the colours really work well... like some more then others but overall a really nice piece... like how neatly each one is lined out... nice style as well... seen as there is alot to look at... theres going to be some minor issues with aligments and sizes... there is a few i can spot but nothing major... cant wait for your next piece...

Sabtastic responds:

The allignment is terrible - but I slapped it all together at 2am last night, so my apologies! XD haha

Thanks~!! :)

cant wait to play it

yes it looks cool and all.. but its rather basic to be putting it in the art portal dont you think?... screen shot of a game?... rather basic colours and shading... nicely done and all but i would have kept this to your userpage ;)

JKAmovies responds:

I guess. . . But I just wanted to show some of the art from the game because it had taken ages to do and thought people would appreciate some game shots :3

Thanks for the review mate.

good lines...

but i would have kept this to yourself.... yeah its a nice piece of work and the manga quality is top notch... but as the title sugests this is just a practice peice... not a finish product... i have seen what else you are capable of and this just seems half hearted... just take the "background" its not very clean compaired to the rest of the picture... and the hair doesnt look finished or as clean as the face...

MangArtist responds:

Yeah, it kinda was half-hearted to tell the truth. I spent most of my time on the eyes and ran out of ideas for the rest of it. (I also suck at digitally drawing hair) I also just wanted to call it done cause I had other projects I needed to work on. I'm currently working on another picture with my tablet and I plan on putting more effort into it.
Really, I posted this mostly just for critiques and tips.

Thanks, though! :D

looks a little spazzy...

line work is clean and very nicely done... the colouring is rathery bold and the shading rather dim most places... increase the depth of the shading in some areas... for example her cloak could use with some darker shades where her foot touches it... the metal areas really need some shine on them to make it look more realistic other then a concept idea... the best area is the torso... where the shading is strongest and there is fine shading to sugest areas which are not created via the line art... now... the pose looks rather like a kids doll after an hour of hard adventuring.. its nice that the body is twisted... but her overall pose looks really strange... im not sure if its even phyicly posible... something to keep in mind for future artworks... not bad... but needs alot of improvement...

Sentrix responds:

Love the feedback. Keep it coming, itâEUTMll only help me improve^_^

oh look.. its yoshi...

simple but effective 4 tone shading, i feel that the spikes on the back are different base colours... or just shaded wrongly... also try to keep the light source in the same place.. as most of the shading shows its top right... but there are areas *like the tail* which say bottom right... just a point... very animation styled... not bad... but just need to keep the areas of your shading in mind...

JKAmovies responds:

Thanks

minor problems

right vortex... im going to egnor the background and the desk for the moment as you already know they arnt the main focus... i feel that most of the time spent on this piece was spent in the torso and head area... the shading is good on these bits... i strongly agree with you with the hand on the desk... it looks really bulky and odd... also i would like to point out the feet/shoes look rather small and odd looking... i dont know if its beacuse of the shading is harsher then the rest of her but im not sure about them... *copy and paste job* (cough)... one is bigger then the other as well O.o , skirt is fab, love it... i feel her head is to far to the left and may be better with a shorter neck... the shading on HER right leg is a bit odd... it doesnt look right... i dont know where the light source is coming from but looking at the majoriy of her i would say top right... athough the shading on her leg says mid right... its not bad... but i have seen you do better stuff... also... if this is done in flash instead of your normal program... i can understand about some of the quality issues... but i think she needs a bit of adjustment and see will be perfect... cant wait to see what you create next...

Vortex00 responds:

Yeah, give me a break on the copy paste geez lol XD good eye! I would have just drawn the same thing anyways >.>; Since I'm kind of pressed for time I have to take a business approach to most of the art I do. And also most art I do unfortunately is for some game or something, and not just to be art alone. But on the flip side, it has more functionality than just being viewed. But that's why I might cut a corner or two here and there.

After reading this and looking back and fourth at the pic though, I realized the shading on the sock and on the leg is quite different. That definitely has to be fixed. And the shading you mentioned on the leg I'm guessing can be resolved by adjusting the angle. I also think the face is too bright but I'm going to leave it be. Also that the wood part of the desk is missing a few shadows from her leg. But the other parts of the desk yeah, there just there to complete the picture for now :)
