so hard to tell...

i honestly cant make out that is drawn, the level of focus to maintain the level of quality is outstanding... although the areas that i feel let it down are where you have the baby's hair "blending" in with the shirt/hair... it seems too blurred... i take it you used a photo to work from because apart from that tiny imperfection... i cant tell the difference...

banegame responds:

Yes, I used photo reference for this. It's a gift to the little girl for her 1st birthday. Not much to play with, but I've printed, laminated and framed it, so she'll have it much longer than her 1st year learning toys and such. I think a gift like this means a lot more than a trip to the local WALMART! Anyway, thank you, and as is common with art, perfection is hard to obtain. So much detail in photorealism that it's hard to stay focused when you just want to move on to the next detail. Even though it took only 10 hours, it felt like weeks...

Thanks!

something about your art...

don't know... but the shading is really effective... do you tend to use other tones in your shading?... the background is very nice and lovely.. although the clouds don't look like you did them (i could be wrong)... nice attention to details vortex :3... Great job

Vortex00 responds:

The clouds was just a brush in photoshop.
I don't often use other tones, mainly because I don't draw backgrounds too often.
Thanks and thanks for the feedback.

always something...

about your pictures that make them fantasticly magical... i cant put my finger on it... but is bloody awesome... and not just this one... all of them :D...

athough i wouldnt want to sit in a boat in the middle of a lake when "burning starts fall from the sky"... sounds a bit painful if one hit you :P...

cant fault this... i love the off set angle aswell... great work so a massive 10

Kamikaye responds:

Thanks :) Yea well , burning stars. It just needed a little drama.

i dig...

simple and effective... you have got the right level of simplicity without over doing it or just seeming lazy... the style is good but i think the colors don't work together, I'm going to totally contradict 50/50 and say that the background seems to harsh against the softness of the creature... using softer shades of red/pink or a different color might have worked better in my view...

Luxembourg responds:

I totally agree about the colors. I actually went in and used some color correction on it on Thursday night in order to tone down the colors to a less saturated and more aesthetically pleasing palette, but my program crashed before I could completely finish it and save it. For the most part, I was trying to use a color palette unlike my usual colors, which are usually much darker.
Glad you like it anyways, though.

lovin the color...

i like how most of your creatures have a similar face... the bike doesnt make sense as the front wheel is attached to the bike... but hey... this is tron + rabbit artwork... anything goes... cant flaw this really... although the lines next to the logo rabbit seem a bit odd and don't flow with the rest of the picture...

TurkeyOnAStick responds:

Yeah, I'll prob kill that line off. I guess it's because it goes back on itself, rather than moving with the bunny.

using a mouse isn't an excuse

all my computer stuff i have done to date is with a mouse... some even in ms paint... i don't see why that would make your art any more worse... it just takes a bit more time and effort... theirs a lot of stuff wrong with this... I'm going to ignore the quality... right... the bunny seems to only have one front leg or two on the same side... the sky gradient it too harsh too quickly... adding more colors would have helped and also in some softer colors... the plant seems very odd in the blank landscape that seems very bumpy... might have smoothed some of the lines a bit more with the pen tool just to go back over bits to repair them... also might want to make the feet a bit larger as most seem to be flat...

if you really want to work on pixel art... make sure you got a good color pallet.. reading some of these comments below have great ideas to help improve... once you got your colors ready make sure you work in fine detail... don't bulk colors unless your going for a smooth clean design.. but as this stands its getting a tiny 2 for been part of the the flood... better luck next time

EventHorizon responds:

I found your review really useful!, you gave me lots of advice, next time I will try to improve, thanks.

nicely done quibbles

the rabbit seems a bit chubby and i think the extra lines make make it seem more realistic compared to the icon sized one... did you look at an image of a rabbit or make it up yourself?

J-qb responds:

It was loosely referenced, mostly for the pose. I tried to do it without, but couldnt get it right. And yeah hes a bit chubby, hell make a nice meal ;)

nice...

the futuristic girl has good line-work... simple colors and effective shading, however i feel that the images in the background that look to be taken from somewhere else really don't fit with the foreground and let it down a hell of a lot...

shinkakakumei responds:

It was a spur of the moment thing since I didn't have a Chinese New Year greeting made up and I was working with a current client who ran a newspaper for the Chinese community. So just scanned some elements from the desktop project I was working on for their paper and this came to be.
