gritty and different

now, anime is a rather over done topic for drawing and painting and you see alot of rubbish, you are one of the people who pulls it off very well... and the reason im replying to this piece if because i love how gritty and textured it is compaired to most of your other stuff which tends to be more smooth and clean cut, this has alot more artistic character to it, i love how easy it is to pick out the lines and blocky colours, its a really nice change and im glad you are experimenting with different tool and looks, i also like the bold pastel like colours you have used, i feel it could use with a touch more depth to it to define areas so you get a 9/10 :D

suwako responds:

Oh thank you very much! I really like that kind of gritty and dark style so I've been trying to study and apply it to my works... I'm really glad that you noticed it! I also agree about the rubbish anime pictures, but I think that kind of shiny style attracts everyone at first... I know when I was younger that's all I wanted lol. Hopefully people will grow out of it like I did? :) I much prefer that painted look to be honest. Then again, everyone has to start somewhere, it's all part of artistic growth and all that.
Thank you for the kind review :)

nicely done

simple sleek lines, lovely pastel colours, reminds me of Egoraptor's artwork somewhat. a lovely soft smooth finish to the whole piece. i want to rate it higher but i feel it deserves a very high 7.

cooool

Fantastic sabs!

Love how you have added in the little details and all the other Pokemon into the picture... normally i would go in-depth about it but i feel you have spent a lot of time and effort on this piece and also know you have :D... hope the guy who gets this pleased, i know i would be :3... Keep up the fab work!

Sabtastic responds:

Yayy thanks!!
I KNOW I did good when even LegolaSS doesn't have anything to critique! ;P

Just a block colour change.

in all fairness, the reason im giving such a low score is the fact that its just a mono toned color change. and its not done very well either, but like you said this is your first attempt painting something like this... first off, you need to thin your paints a lot more as you can see on the helm there is a lot of rough patches where the paint is bunched. its better to put down multiple layers of thinner paint then one solid block color. also make sure your neat as i can see some gray specks on the white areas. you should be able to scratch them off with your fingernails :3.

but hopefully if you do something like this you will take on board what iv said and improve a lot more. but in my eyes a single color change isn't really impressive. i am sorry for the low score but i feel that was it deserves.

PikaRobo responds:

Well I didn't really know what paint to use, so that's fair. And yes, I've TRIED to scrape of some of the specks, it wouldn't come off. I'm not buying another Castle Crasher so I probably won't try it again though.

One last thing, the reason why it's only one monochromatic color is because it IS the GRAY KNIGHT. Hopefully you knew that already...

Love this simple style

clean, simple and flawless design, loving the curves and lines used... a really nice crisp style. adding the more detailed and complexed flowers is a nice touch to keep it from becoming to simple and to break the image up a little. my only crit is that the hair seems rather bunchy in places *top left of the head* where the line seems to be made of many lines joined together and doesnt flow smoothly. also not sure about the highlights on the face/hair where it seems it should only be on the blond of the hair. but fantastic to see another style of art... 10/10 / faved

the thought is there

but its not working for me, i don't know what it is about it, but it feels like its trying to do something its not... it just doesn't seem to fit... you have to few it in full scale to appreciate it in all fairness... but still i feel like there is no physical connection... like she is flying or hovering... also proportions may be out... like i said in my title... i idea is there... but it wasn't created as well as i may have been... hope to see some more work from you in the future... 7.5 / 10

Flowers10 responds:

After this review im just going to quit art entirely.
nah jk

happy face :)

lovely atmosphere in this picture... it really has a dark feel to it, very nicely done with the use of color in this as well... i like how you have elongated all the limbs of the other creatures, just a few things about the picture itself, i know a chain can do it, but it just seems a bit odd (the one coming of him arm) , the fluid coming out of the tube, possibly have dribbled it out instead of flowing all of a sudden and i cant make out what the dark shape in the background is... but that's just my view points... a good entry piece!

ImpendingRiot responds:

Thanks for the feedback

some good linework

i feel the overall picture to too dark... but i like what i can see... i like the dirtiness of the picture... the feeling that this things been around for a while or been in a few fights in his/her time... the colors are simple to help focus on the line work... a nice starting entry... :3

dommi-fresh responds:

cheers ... it is very dark though

Good starting entry...

it has a feel dark theme about this picture i like, some areas like the lips, skin, nose and top are all well done, i feel her eye is too white for the picture... also a tad small?... i also feel that he arm is "put ontop" of her rather then part of her as there is no logical join, i do like the elbow gear and wire/pipes... i have to agree with the hand not been to a great standard as well... looking forward to more work for yourself :3

iVomit responds:

Thanks for the critique! :]

wait... oh god no!!!.

when did you finish that!?... ahhh god i need to finish mine *sad face*

i like what you have done with it, although you haven't really touched the model to much with painting... you have done a fab job :3... now... wheres my paints ¬¬

Captain responds:

Yeah man, up your game! I want to see what you come up with.
