lovely use of lighting and mood, would be interested to know if you used a reference for this or not, the colors are soft and perception is good, the main issue i have with this is the background, not the "lack" of one, but how little attention you gave it. three of the corners are "brighter" as if you did not cover them with the brush (along with the top). its like having a lovely painting in a cardboard box frame, its really distracting for me. apart from that, this is a solid piece of work. just make sure you pay attention to the whole picture, not just the details! 5/5

Thanks for the review. I understand what you mean for background. I also had a plan for the background. I don't have enough technique or skill to pull off what I had in mind. So I left it shelved until I can. Also I did have a reference. My oldest daughter posed with a flashlight in her hand in the darkish bathroom! Lol. :)

Can you feel the love tonight, oh wait, that isnt elton john... god knows who that guy is with all the blood on his limbs, he must be from one of them story books to tell children, you know, the "this is what will happen if you are not a nice person".... on a less sarcastic and more logical art note. i love all the shades of pink and the simple yet highly effective background.. the faces are cute also, nice work :3

DieterTheuns responds:

Thank you, leggy my lass!

love the shading and tones on the balloon, and that little dino is so cute <3

ReNaeNae responds:

Thanks!

Happy Valentine's Day! <3

Why this this not a massive cartoon series yet! *throws money at the screen*

kmau responds:

Because I spend too much time tucking my nose into design documents. It takes alot of time and patience.

Overall its nice, i feel that the socks are far to bright in contrast to the rest of the picture and really distract the eye, mostly because the attention to detail had been on the upper half of the picture. other then that the rendering on the skin is smooth and nice choice of colors however her face seems off, i just played around with the photo and if you line up the eyes so they are on the same level it would look more natural in my view.

Waveloop responds:

Thank you for taking the time. I agree the white is taking too much attention. As for the eyes, I guess her right eye is just slightly pushed up... But it was done following her brow moment to create asymmetry... Accordingly with the subtle expression I wanted to give her.

Only the coolest people make that pose ;)

Nice Stuff sabs!

Sabtastic responds:

....Says the guy who's ALSO been drawn in said pose----

ahaha THANKS, ASH!

Much better now that you cleaned up the two pixels on the left-hand border! now it is perfect!
you force me to leave reviews because you refuse to get scouted! how else can I vote 5! <3

ReNaeNae responds:

I didn't clean anything up, but I can if you need me to! Can't wait to see what amazing thing you create for your part!!! (rate/review is better than a score/vote!) :3

ironically, I personally think the hair is the best bit, proportion wise you are slightly out, the mouth is smaller then the original image but it looks OK at its current size, the nose is too large as well as the "anime" eyes.. her forehead is shortened as well, her hands are well done... the focus is on the face and i feel everything else shouldn't be as sharp that's why i think her dress near her hands shouldn't be as refined as it draws the attention away from the focus. apart from the eyes and nose (and small dress problem) this is a really good photo study. keep it up!

mspopsie21 responds:

Thank you very much for the review. I didn't know that the dress near her hands are "that" refined because it's the last part that I did so I'm kind of lazy on that part. Honestly, the first that I did here was her lips because my intention was to practice this kind of art cause I'm more on traditional then as it goes on I planned to finish her. I learned many things from your review so a big thank you again.

it always saddens me when such amazing artwork gets such little page views...

your art is inspiring and has a beautiful charm to it.

Mahjix responds:

Thank you! Your words are too kind!

Why is the line-work for her belt and right hand a different colour to her boot and left hand? surely they should be the same. also i found her eyes very hard to read as they are very similar in hue to the skin. apart from them small issues, you have some solid lines, bold colour pallet and a quirky style.

DeepFriedNeil responds:

You know what, you're right about the boot/hand deal. The color must have gotten a bit off there, no one caught it. The correct line color is right arm/belt. As for her eyes, that's how I wanted it, so that's done by design.

It's a good catch, I'll fix it for the buyer and shoot him a new file, as he didn't catch it either lol.
